We love heading to the variety of Montgomery County, Maryland farmers markets on the weekends for fresh produce, but that shouldn’t be your only reason to plan a visit to one! At the markets, you can get a taste of so many delicious food and beverage options from local vendors that come from all different backgrounds and cultures. Just outside of Washington, DC, you can enjoy homemade chicken empanadas, crab cakes, barbeque ribs, and freshly baked tarts from the very best farmers markets.

Pike Central Market
Saturday, 9am-1:30pm
Pike Central Market located at Pike & Rose can satisfy any type of craving. Grab a fresh juice drink from Senzu Juicery, try out some seafood from Lobster Maine-ia, or enjoy more savory options from Stroker’s Barbeque which offers smoked jackfruit for non-meat eaters! The market also features music, local wine and beer tastings, kid-friendly activities, and chef demos.

Takoma Park Farmers Market
Sundays, 10am-2pm
Shop and taste your way around the historical business district of Takoma Park. At their farmer’s market, you can purchase many fresh, locally sourced baked goods, dairy options, and smoothies. During your time at the market, grab a picnic blanket and enjoy your meal while watching the variety of street performers on the sidewalk!

FRESHFARM Downtown Silver Spring Market
Saturdays, 9am to 1pm
There’s no doubt you’ll find yourself getting lost in all of the amazing food and beverage options at FRESHFARM Market in Downtown Silver Spring. Grab a crab cake and empanadas at Chris’ Marketplace, savor a bag of kettle corn from Capitol Kettle Corn, slurp up a bowl of handmade pasta from Foggy Mountain Pasta, or try out freshly made everything bagel with cream cheese from Call Your Mother.

Clarksburg Farmers Market
Sundays, 8am-1pm 
Shop until you drop at the Clarksburg’s Premium Outlets then head over to their on-site farmers market that sells locally grown, high-quality produce and food products. We promise that the homemade tarts and empanadas from Stone Hearth Bakery will have you coming back for more!

Gaithersburg Main Street Farmers & Artists Market
Saturdays, 9am-2pm
While browsing beautifully handcrafted items and arts from local craftspeople, snack on some delicious food from local vendors from the Gaithersburg community. While you’re there, stop by Mel’s Munchie’s, a local bakery that puts nothing but love into their baked goods. Take home a few of their freshly made cookies, tarts, and pies—they are the perfect afternoon sweet treat!

Rockville Farmers Market
Saturdays, 9am-1pm
No trip to Rockville is complete without stopping by their farmers market on Saturday. Sip on coffee from Zeke’s Coffee, enjoy freshly baked croissants from Praline Bakery, and try out Charlie’s Empanadas for mouth-watering traditional Argentinian beef and chicken empanadas.
