From the Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens to the Festival of Lights at the Washington, DC Temple, we’ve rounded up Montgomery County, Maryland‘s best holiday light displays and experiences you won’t want to miss this season.
Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens: Wheaton
Stroll through more than one million dazzling colorful lights shaped into hand-crafted flowers, animals, snowflakes, and other natural elements at the Garden of Lights. Wander this winter wonderland and enjoy whimsical scenes, watch model trains wind through seasonal landscapes in the Conservatory, and listen to musical performances in the Visitors Center.
The Garden of Lights is open every night through January 1, 2019 (except December 24 & 25) at Brookside Gardens. The cost is $25 per car/van (Sunday-Thursday) and $30 per car/van (Friday-Saturday). Winter Lights at Seneca Creek State Park: Gaithersburg
Drive through the City of Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival featuring 3.5 miles of enchanted woodland with more than 450 illuminated displays and spectacularly lit trees that brighten the evening sky. Celebrating its 23rd spectacular season, the display in Seneca Creek State Park features seasonal scenes like Winter Woods, Teddy Bear Land, Toyland, Victorian Village, and the North Pole.
The City of Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival is open every night through December 31 (except December 25) at Seneca Creek State Park. Admission at the gate is $12 per car/van (Monday-Thursday) and $17 per car/van (Friday-Sunday), payable by cash or credit card.
Holiday Laser Light Show at King Farm: Rockville
Join the King Farm Village Center’s annual Holiday Laser Light Show on Sunday, December 9 at 6pm in a spectacular light display celebrating the holiday season. Come prepared to be dazzled by shining lights and laser animations set to live, classic holiday music.
This family-friendly event on the Village Green is FREE and guests receive complimentary hot chocolate from Coffee Republic.
CommUNITY Tree: Downtown Silver Spring
This year’s holiday art installation in Downtown Silver Spring focuses on celebrating the season of community. A fusion of four artists’ work, the CommUNITY Tree features a kaleidoscopic mural that inspires visitors to embrace their differences and unite as vivid bursts of color in the community.
Festival of Lights at the Washington, DC Temple: Kensington
The Festival of Lights at the Washington DC Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shines brightly with more than 650,000 beautiful lights. The Festival of Lights also features holiday sounds during nightly performances, including bell ensembles, choirs, and orchestras, in the indoor theater of the Visitors’ Center.
The Festival of Lights and performances are FREE and open every night through January 1, 2019 at the Washington DC Temple.
Insta Ivy Wall: Bethesda
Get in the perfect photo opportunity at the “Oh What Fun” ivy wall light installation at Bethesda Row.
