Community FarmShare is a Montgomery County nonprofit which partners with local organic, regenerative and naturally grown vegetable farms in Montgomery County to bring fresh, healthy produce to families experiencing food insecurity.
We aim to reduce food insecurity by providing healthy food sourced from local farmers – it’s a win-win-win-win!
1. Families experiencing food insecurity gain access to weekly fresh, healthy, nutrient-dense seasonal produce otherwise not easily accessible. Community FarmShare chips away at inequities in the food system, where low-income families often lack access to healthy food options. We provide the best produce in the county to our neighbors in need, who are often most at-risk for facing health challenges.
2. Local small-scale farmers benefit by earning fair wage income for their tireless dedication to growing nutritious produce that sustains us all. Supporting our local farmers means building a resilient, sustainable, local food system which benefits our whole community.
3. Participating farmers use organic, certified naturally grown and regenerative farming practices, meaning that our earth and the environment are preserved by not adding harmful chemicals into the environment. Further, local food consumption keeps the carbon footprint low.
4. Community FarmShare aims to build community. We envision an “Agri -Culture of Caring,” a place where growers and consumers, those with resources and those with fewer resources, can support one another, come to know each other, build bridges and develop relationships.
