Try this black-owned American restaurant is known for its brick oven pizzas, mini smash burgers, creative cocktails, and an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere. While the Matchbox Bethesda and Matchbox Silver Spring locations offer a chance to witness downtown life, the Matchbox Rockville location has two outdoor patios and two wood-fired ovens.
We recommend starting off with their table bread, which comes with pizza bread, garlic butter, fontina cheese, and chilis, the roasted salmon with heirloom tomatoes, roasted corn salsa, poblano peppers, fresh basil, and evol. Or stick to the classic burrata & salami wood-fired pizza with tomatoes, salami, Italian sausage, three different kinds of cheese, and drizzled with hot honey. Then, finish with dessert with a classic brownie topped with Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and caramel sauce.

A restaurant with an express location in Silver Spring. Milk & Honey Express is a Southern-inspired eatery known for its award-winning shrimp and grits and soul food comfort dishes. While this place has limited seating, there’s no limit on flavor.
Indulge in a Hot Honey & Lemon Pepper Chicken Sandwich with Cheesy Hashbrowns. Dive into the Blackened Salmon BLT with pan-seared salmon, bacon, lettuce, tomato, paired with their secret sauce, or stick with a classic Egg & Cheese Biscuit. For something sweet, try the deep-fried strawberry shortcake biscuits or Peach Cobbler Cheesecake.
All Set Restaurant & Bar

Another black-owned gem in Downtown Silver Spring is All Set Restaurant & Bar. This eatery is less than a ten-minute walk from the Red Line Metro. All Set offers a contemporary twist on American cuisine from seafood to barbeque dishes. Guests can join them for brunch, lunch, happy hour, or dinner, as well as the option to dine under a covered patio.
Start your meal off with oysters on the half shell served with mignonette, tabasco, horseradish, or cocktail sauce, and Old Bay Wings that are twice fried with bleu cheese or ranch. Try their braised short rib that is braised with red wine with bleu cheese mashed potatoes, heirloom carrots, fried shallots, and a red wine demi glaze. Don’t forget to grab the skillet cornbread that comes with butter and finish with an Apple Cake.
Pro Tip: If you like crafted cocktails, you won’t go wrong with the Pretty in Pink with tequila, cranberry, triple sec, lemon, and sparkling wine.

If you need a taste of New Orleans, Miss Toya’s Creole House in Downtown Silver Spring is the place to be. Located in a shopping destination of Silver Spring, Miss Toya’s offers a contemporary, cozy view of city life.
Get a taste of Maryland while eating the Creole Spinach Dip with Crab. It’s a creamy spinach and three cheese dip, and served with tortilla chips. Or try the Stuffed Shrimp that’s deep-fried and stuffed with jumbo lump crab, over a bed of corn succotash and a house aioli. You can’t go wrong with Catfish and Grits as your main entrée with white cheddar grits, fresh wild-caught catfish, and topped with a jambalaya cream sauce.
