This program takes place at Olive Branch Community Church
Historian and board member of the Sandy Spring Slave Museum Reynauld Smith will give a presentation on the history of Juneteenth to the community, including his family’s connection to the original historic events and the holiday.
Reynauld Smith was a high school educator for 37 years and retired in 2008.
Reynauld taught advanced placement U.S. history, African-American history,
and was Chair of the Eastern High School History Department. In 2007, he received the McGraw Hill Prize for his work in Global Education. Mr. Smith hails
from Dallas, TX and graduated from Tuskegee University.
