ROCKVILLE, MD — Lafayette Federal Credit Union is inviting local residents to safely dispose of personal documents at its upcoming Community Shred Day, held at the Universities at Shady Grove (Building IV) on Saturday, October 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (or until the shred truck reaches capacity).
Community Shred Day is free and open to the public, offering a secure and convenient way to shred sensitive documents such as old bills, tax forms, medical records, and other paperwork that could put individuals at risk of identity theft if improperly discarded.
The event is part of Lafayette Federal’s ongoing efforts to support financial wellness and community engagement. Security and privacy have always been a central focus for the credit union, and Community Shred Day offers a simple, accessible way for individuals to protect their personal information while connecting with their neighbors.
Volunteers will be on-site to assist with unloading documents directly from vehicles and ensuring materials are shredded on the spot via a professional mobile shredding service. (Note: Only personal documents will be accepted — no commercial or bulk business shredding, please.)
In addition to shredding services, guests can enjoy:
Complimentary coffee and donuts
