Laurel artist Kimberly Cusack will present “Fragments”, a solo art show at the beachKraft Gallery in Olney, MD, on view April 2 – April 30, 2025.
the beachKraft StudioGallery of Olney will host an Opening Reception for the artist on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
Kimberly Cusack is a Laurel, MD based artist working in painting and sculpture. Her work explores her life, and by painting herself and her loved ones, she shows connection through shared experiences. Graduating with BFA from East Carolina University, her significant exhibitions include the Growing up Queer in the South and the Beyond the Diagnosis permanent collection. As a selected muralist for Toss, she is working on a mural about women at work in Burke County.
Cusack’s oil paintings often feature human figures and utilize surreal elements and treatment of her subject matter. Viewers may feel like they are being invited into the artist’s dream-space as her subtle but detailed modeling of these figures surge into a more painterly handling within the settings presented. Her sculptures similarly juxtapose the familiar with the magical in her use of recycled, everyday objects and modeled clay and foam in a way that suggests both motion and tension.
Cusack has had her work in private and public exhibitions throughout the eastern United States since starting her professional career in 2019 with her work being selected for the permanent collection of Beyond the Diagnosis in Rumford, Rhode Island. This traveling collection of portraits of children with life-threatening diseases raises awareness through their exhibition inmedical schools, research institutes, hospitals, galleries, and museums.She has also been awarded several public mural commissions in North Carolina as either the primary artist or organizer of student artists. Her awards include scholarships with Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
The beachKraft Gallery is excited to show a selection of both oil paintings and sculpture by Cusack throughout the month of April.

An opening reception will be held for the artist on Sunday April 6, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Light refreshment will be available to guests. Artist receptions at the gallery are always free to attend.
