Where to Celebrate Pride Outside of Washington, DC

Pride Month is an annual commemoration held during the entire month of June. There is a lot to be PRIDEFUL about in Montgomery County, Maryland! To celebrate, we’ve pulled together the ultimate list of ways you and your family can show your pride all month long, just outside of Washington, DC.

Canis Major Drag Brunch
Bark Social

Free

Join Vagenesis and friends for a drag brunch benefiting Constellation Theatre Company, inspired by the Canis Major constellation. Like dogs, each Constellation production is unique, memorable, and sticks with you forever. Come enjoy delicious drinks, amazing music, and epic drag performances. Costumes will be on hand to give your furry friend their moment in the limelight at our step-and-repeat, and you will have a chance to win some raffle prizes from theatres and local businesses.

All humans are welcome, whether you have a dog or are just a dog enthusiast. Guests without dogs may enter for free. Humans under 21 may visit anytime before 8:00 pm, and must be accompanied by an adult over 21. Dogs must be registered with current vaccine records and have a Bark Social Club Membership or monthly or day pass to enter.

MoCo Pride Prom

MoCo Pride Prom is a prom for LGBTQ+ high school and community college youth across MD, DC, and VA. The event allows students to proudly attend prom, dress however they are most comfortable and dance without fear with whomever they choose.

Rockville Pride

The City of Rockville’s Human Rights Commission will celebrate the seventh annual Rockville Pride with its Pride event on Sunday, June 2, 2024. The event will be interactive and will include live performances, information booths and dialogue, HIV testing, and arts and crafts as well as children’s activities.

Join Gaithersburg High School’s Pride Alliance at City Hall as they accept the city’s official declaration of June as Pride Month in Gaithersburg. If you cannot attend the meeting, please watch it live on YouTube, or watch it via Zoom by registering here! 

Pride in the Park: A Comedy Show

Cost FREE

LGBTQIA+ comics from comedy troupe Improbable Comedy brings the laughs in stand-up routines touching on topics of relationships, family and love. The event begins at 6:00 pm with food and beverages for purchase. The show begins at 7:00 pm. Ages 17+

DiVerse @ Casey Poetry Nights

Casey Community Center is partnering with DiVerse Gaithersburg to showcase DMV poets in our community. Readings from featured poets will be followed by conversation & open mic, where members of the community can share an original poem. DiVerse Gaithersburg presents poets with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds from the metro area, including Gaithersburg.

Join Councilmembers Evan Glass & Dawn Luedtke and Olney Theatre’s Artistic Director Jason Loewith for a celebration of local LGBTQ+ artists and their work. The social mixer will precede the evening’s showing of “Long Way Down,” and attendees will be given a code for discounted tickets.

Sunday, June 9, 2024, is Takoma Pride Day when we celebrate our LGBTQ+ community. There will be Drag Queen Storytime, face painting, and tabling by various organizations and the businesses will decorate and offer Pride specials.

Celebrate Pride upcounty with the first-ever Poolesville Pride Fest! Enjoy delicious locally sourced food and drink, local LGBTQIA+ artists and vendors, and a performing arts talent show at this historic community event.

LIYT Nights & Drag Duels is a live entertainment series featuring live music, comedy performances, choreographed dance, and more! Recommended for children ages 2-6, June 28’s StoryTime Station will feature Free to Be Me in honor of Pride Month! Following the event, children will be given a follow-up activity to complete at home!

Celebrate 2024 Pride Month with Broadway songs! A musical review with a twist, “Love is Love is Love” travels across many moments in relationships. From young love- at-first-glance to dating, first kiss, rejection, envy, starting over and letting go. Funds raised will support MoCo Pride and the Arts Barn Theatre Seat Fund. TAPP Consortium members including Kentlands Community Players, Rockville Little Theatre and Victorian Lyric Opera Company. Recommended for ages 15 & up.

As Pride Month comes to an end, gather together at this full-day festival to celebrate members the LGBTQ+ community! Full of performances by local artists, pop-ups from local businesses, and free HIV testing, this is sure to be one of MoCo Pride Month’s most memorable events!
