Where to Celebrate Pride Outside of Washington, DC

Pride Month is an annual commemoration held during the entire month of June. There is a lot to be PRIDEFUL about in Montgomery County, Maryland! To celebrate, we’ve pulled together the ultimate list of ways you and your family can show your pride all month long, just outside of Washington, DC.

Join us at Bark Social on Wednesday, June 1st, to welcome in Pride Month with a Happy Hour Fundraiser! Bark Social will be donating 10% of all beer sale proceeds to MoCo Pride Center. We will be there with fun goodies and information about all our upcoming pride events.

Paint Your Pride: Teen Crafternoon
Aspen Hill Library

Help us kick off Pride Month and express yourself with an afternoon of arts and crafts! On Saturday, June 4, Montgomery County Public Libraries will be providing teens with free paints, canvases and other materials at the Aspen Hill Library in Rockville.

Nerd Party – Golden Girls

Celebrate Pride Month with fellow Golden Girls fans by paying tribute to the iconic gal pals! Dress as your favorite character, sip some signature drinks, savor some cheesecake, and test your Golden Girls knowledge by playing a game of trivia for a chance to win a “golden” prize. 

Rockville Pride – Virtual

This year, the City of Rockville’s Human Rights Commission will celebrate the sixth annual Rockville Pride with a virtual Pride event on Sunday, June 5, 2022. The virtual event will be interactive and will include LGBTQ+ resources and breakout room discussions of LGBTQ+ topics.

Parks Playhouse: PRIDE in the Park: An LGBTQ+ Comedy Show

Celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with Improbable Comedy as they showcase local queer comics on the lawn of Fairview Urban Park! This hilarious mash-up of stand-up routines is intended for audience members ages 17 and up.

Storytime at the Arts Barn

Bring your young ones to the Arts Barn to recognize Pride Month! Accompanied by a parent or guardian, children will have the opportunity to listen to a reading of the engaging story Except When They Don’t by Laura Gehl and a participate in variety of arts and crafts activities.

Head Over Heels Performance

Join us in a celebration of love with a performance of Head Over Heels, a laugh-out-loud love story set to the music of the iconic 1980’s all-female rock band The Go-Go’s! This show is intended for audience members aged 15 and up.

Sunday, June 12, 2022 is Takoma Pride Day when we celebrate our LGBTQ+ community. This year’s theme is Just Say Gay!  There will be Drag Queen Storytime, face painting, tap performance by Knock on Wood, tabling by various organizations and the businesses will decorate and offer Pride specials.

Pride Family Day at Glen Echo Park

Glen Echo Park is proud to collaborate with the office of Montgomery County Council Vice President Evan Glass to provide the 2nd annual Pride Family Day! Enjoy an interactive chalk maze, arts and crafts, free carousel rides, and more.

Acknowledge the incredible achievements by the LGBTQ+ community and make a stand for inclusivity and equality at the Kentlands Mansion on June 12. A bilingual storytime will be followed by a simple summertime tea on the lawn, and this is an event you definitely do not want to miss! 

Yoga Flow with Pride

In honor of Pride Month, members of the BIPOC LGBTQ+ community are invited to come together in an all-ages, body-positive yoga class to improve strength, flexibility and balance in an inclusive space.

Pride on the Page: Author Talk with Eric Nguyen

As Pride Month comes to an end, gather together at this full-day festival to celebrate members the LGBTQ+ community! Full of performances by local artists, pop-ups from local businesses and free HIV testing, this is sure to be one of MoCo Pride Month’s most memorable events!

Recommended for children ages 2-6, June 28’s StoryTime Station will feature Drag Queen Storytime: Free to Be Me in honor of Pride Month! Following the event, children will be given a follow-up activity to complete at home!
