Montgomery County is proud to welcome the U.S. Adaptive Open to Rockville this July 7–9, 2025. Hosted at the prestigious Woodmont Country Club, this inclusive championship brings together elite adaptive golfers and passionate fans for a weekend that highlights not only athletic talent, but also the values of accessibility, community, and belonging.
Launched in 2022, the U.S. Adaptive Open is the USGA’s first national championship dedicated to golfers with physical, sensory, or intellectual impairments. With a 96-player field and a 54-hole stroke-play format, the event features elite competitors from across the country—each with a powerful story of perseverance.
This year’s field includes 16-year-old Ryder Barr of Celina, Texas, the youngest competitor, and 75-year-old Dennis Walters of Jupiter, Florida, the championship’s oldest player. Of the 96 players, 72 are returning athletes, while 24 will make their championship debut.
Montgomery County’s deep commitment to accessibility and inclusion makes it the perfect host for this groundbreaking tournament. The championship is more than a competition, it’s a celebration of human resilience, sportsmanship, and the evolving future of golf.
The Venue: Woodmont’s South Course
Opened in 1950, designed by Alfred Tull, and recently reimagined in 2022 by Joel Weiman, the South Course is a classic layout with modern Sandbelt-style bunkering. Woodmont is ADA-compliant, with accessible pathways, parking, and designated viewing areas, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the championship experience.
