Montgomery County, Maryland is always looking for new ways to bring people together, and Downtown Silver Spring has done just that with their new Post-it Art Project!
After working closely with Pipkin Creative and muralist Patrick Owens, Downtown Silver Spring is now home to several multi-story Post-it Art installations, including Children’s National “Dr. Bear” on Inventa Towers and a Ms. Pac Man display, both made by placing thousands of Post-it notes on building windows. This all started with the intention of spreading joy and providing warm welcomes to those transitioning back into in-person work.
Now there are dozens of displays from Spiderman and Mario to rainbows and flowers on various windows and storefronts around the neighborhood. Take a walk around Downtown Silver Spring and see how many you can find!
There is also a Post-it Note engagement wall near the Wayne Ave garage breezeway on Ellsworth Drive, giving individuals a chance to make their own art. Residents and visitors are encouraged to leave a positive message or a cute doodle on one of the Post-it notes, take a photo and POST IT on social media tagging @DTSilverSpring.
After strolling around to see the pieces and making a stop at the engagement wall, grab a bite at The Eleanor for $1 Oyster Wednesdays, Social Hour on Matchbox’s patio or Nando’s Peri Peri for the perfect flame-grilled chicken. Plan your visit for a Thursday so you can end the night at a summer concert or go on a Friday to enjoy Happy Hour LIVE after your Post-it adventures!
Since these installations will only be up for a limited time, don’t hesitate to plan a trip to Downtown Silver Spring.
