45th Annual Labor Day Art Show

The 45th Annual Labor Day Art Show features more than 250 artists from the greater Washington, DC area and over 650 works of art including photography, painting, ceramics, jewelry, glass, textiles, and more. For the second year in a row, the Labor Day Art Show at Glen Echo Park offers jewelry on a “cash and carry” basis and new this year is a sleeved prints section! Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade

The ever-popular Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade returns to the streets of Olde Towne on Monday, September 5, 2016, at 1 p.m. Now in its 78th year, this rain or shine event includes ethnic dance groups, antique cars and fire trucks, clowns, high school marching bands, and an assortment of community groups, equestrian units, and more.
Kensington Labor Day Parade and Festival
– Kensington | September 5, 2016
The 49th Annual Kensington Labor Day Parade and Festival will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016. The Parade kicks-off at 10 am by traveling down Connecticut Avenue from St. Paul Park toward Town Hall, which features local marching bands from area schools; equestrian show groups; dance groups; floats and ambassadors from local churches, schools, non-profits, and businesses; and local, state, and federally elected officials.
Silver Spring Restaurant Week
– Silver Spring and Takoma Park area | September 6-11, 2016
Silver Spring, Takoma Park and the surrounding areas are home to one of the fastest growing and most diverse restaurant scenes in the region. Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week 2016 is a six day celebration that will highlight the variety of delicious fine dining options available in the greater Silver Spring area and Takoma Park. Participating restaurants will offer diners special two and three course menus at fabulous prices the week of Tuesday, September 6th through Sunday, September 11th, 2016.
Silver Spring Jazz Festival

The Silver Spring Jazz Festival is a free annual event in Downtown Silver Spring featuring a variety of jazz performances. The performances are held outdoors so bring a blanket and/or beach chair. A wide variety of food will be available to purchase from local restaurants. The festival headliner is internationally-renown saxophonist David Sanborn and his Electric Band.
– Montgomery County Fairgrounds | September 11, 2016
The 11th annual grand celebration of the Salvadoran Independence Day Festival will be held at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds on Sunday, September 11, 2016. The festival coincides with Hispanic Heritage Month and features a rich display of traditional food, music, and culture. More than 20,000 people will congregate to support and enjoy the official independence festivities and it’s featured star performers.
Carnival of Chocolates
– Rockville Town Square | September 11, 2016
The Dwelling Place, Inc., is hosting its 24rd Annual Carnival of Chocolates on Sunday, September 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Rockville Town Square. With 300 people expected to attend, this year’s event will include chocolate tastings from local chocolatiers, a kids fun run (100 yard dash), live music, games, and two children’s story times. The event is free to attend, with a $10-per-child registration fee for the fun run and $1 tokens for chocolate tastings. Proceeds will benefit The Dwelling Place. Attendees will also be able to donate by eating at select Rockville Town Square restaurants the day of the event.
Latin American Film Festival

Now in its 27th year, the AFI Latin American Film Festival showcases the best filmmaking from Latin America and, with the inclusion of films from Spain and Portugal, celebrates Ibero-American cultural connections. This year’s selection of films will once again include numerous international film festival favorites, award winners, local box office hits and debut works by promising new talents. The annual AFI Latin American Film Festival is one of Washington’s top cultural events – don’t miss your chance to mingle with filmmaker guests and toast with the embassies.
24th Annual Poolesville Day Festival and Celebration

This one-day, FREE event located in Montgomery County is a Poolesville tradition celebrating more than 20 years of community, fun and entertainment! The family-oriented festival attracts over 10,000 visitors to the historic downtown. Enjoy the town parade complete with a marching band, moon bounces, food, beverages and more!
7th Annual Pan African Festival

The sixth annual PanAfrican Cultural Festival is part of a series of events commemorating September as African Heritage Month in Montgomery County. The festival is designed to showcase the rich and diverse cultures of African countries. This event provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the heritage and showcase the cultures of Africans as we foster collaboration within our local communities. The African Heritage Month recognizes the African Union day and the critical relationships between the United States and African nations.
Food Truck Festival

Join us at this free festival featuring live music, kids area and some of your favorite food trucks. Held every fall in Wheaton, Trucktoberfest features food trucks, a crafts market, live local music, and of course great local beer.
– Silver Spring Veterans Plaza | September 25, 2016
The Maker Faire in Silver Spring is a free, family-friendly event that brings together Makers of all types for a spectacular display of art, science, technology, craft and engineering. It is being presented by KID Museum, a new museum in Montgomery County dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators. This “do-it-yourself” fair invites children and adults to participate in Maker projects and demonstrations.
