Kelly Website Biking PhotoQ. If this was your last day on Earth, where in Montgomery County would you dine?

There are so many great dining choices in Montgomery County.  This is a tough choice, but I would have to say for my last meal I would go to one of my favorite places, Tower Oaks Lodge. I love the atmosphere in the restaurant and the menu items are amazing. One of my favorite items, the fried pickles! For lunch it’s the chicken club and for dinner definitely the Wild Alaska Salmon with a Pistachio Crust.

Q. Where is the first place you take your friends and family from out of town?

I would  showcase one of my favorite places, the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park.  This National Park is a treasured site for our county residents and visitors.  It is amazing to me that within a short drive from the nation’s capital and all the urban areas of Montgomery County you can find yourself at this spectacular historic and natural landscape.  A short walk along the footbridge takes you to a spectacular view of the Great Falls/Potomac River.

Q. What’s your favorite free or low cost thing to do here?

I am a road biker and  really enjoy the Capital Crescent Trail (CCT) which takes you from Silver Spring to Georgetown D.C.  This trail is a rail-trail built on the abandoned railbed of the 11 mile Georgetown Branch of the B&O Railroad.  Very scenic.

Q. What’s the best festival or special event in Montgomery County?

The Silver Spring Jazz Festival.  This event is held during a perfect time of year in Montgomery County.  It’s a great event to attend with family and friends, a good location and some very talented artists performing.

Q. Describe your Montgomery in 3 words.

Food, Food, Food

Q. Where is one of your favorite travel destinations in the world?

I have lived in Maryland all my life and love the beaches in Ocean City, Maryland and Delaware.  But, if I have an opportunity to go out of state for a getaway, hands down my favorite would be Sanibel Island, Florida.  The Gulf Beaches in Florida are the best.  On my international travel bucket list—The Mykonos Beaches in Greece.

Q. What is your go-to happy hour drink?

I enjoy the Grand Lemon Drop Martini at Bar Louie at the Rockville Town Square.

Q. What do you love about your job?

I most enjoy working with the business community engaging them in our mission to promote Montgomery County as a partnership.  Our organization’s stakeholders and residents in our community have a great sense of pride in where they live, work and raise their families.  This makes it easy to promote our destination to the visitor.

Q. Best place to shop in Montgomery County?

I am a bargain shopper so I am drawn to all the discount clothing stores along the “Pike.”  I am looking forward to having a brand new outlet center here in Montgomery County in the very near future, Clarksburg Premium Outlets at Cabin Branch.
