That’s why we make all of our dishes from scratch, using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients sourced locally. From our homemade breakfasts to our farm-to-table dinners, we ensure that every dish we serve is made with care and attention to detail.
Scratch Kitchen was born as a Mother and Daughter project, with owner Bernie Rousseau and her daughter Angie sharing a passion for cooking and homemade food. Together, they envisioned a place that would change the local restaurant industry. However, tragedy struck when Angie passed away on February 1st, 2022, the same day Bernie received the keys to the new location. Despite this devastating loss, Bernie carried on with the vision she and her daughter shared, and Scratch Kitchen continues to serve delicious, homemade food made with love in honor of Angie’s memory.
Despite facing incredible challenges, Bernie Rousseau continued with her vision for Scratch Kitchen, a family-owned restaurant in Olney, MD. In honor of her daughter’s memory, Bernie transformed tragedy into purpose by creating a legacy for her daughter and two younger children. She was committed to creating a restaurant that not only creates jobs but also serves fresh, healthy food that the community can be proud of.
