The Rockville Science Center invites you to join us for our online Rockville Science Cafe lecture series. In this month’s presentation we will hear from Scott Wilson, Ph.D. for a fascinating conversation about the benefits and losses associated with the migration to electric vehicles.
In a future where major portions of our light, medium and heavy duty-vehicle fleet is electrified, will we be better or worse off? What do we gain? What do we lose? This talk examines the net effect on emissions, minerals and economies of wide-scale electrification of the US vehicle fleet, and attempts to determine if doing so will be a net positive or net negative.
Our speaker: Scott Wilson, Ph.D., is a retired patent examiner in the US Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined applications related to active semiconductor devices. He is currently vice president of the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington DC. He has a BS in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado and a PhD in Physics from the University of South Carolina.
