Pipo Romero is a Spanish guitarist whose mastery of the acoustic fingerstyle has added depth and innovation to the folk music genre. Hailing from Cádiz, Romero fuses the musical influences of his childhood and the carnivals of Cádiz with flamenco, classical, country, and Celtic. His most recent album, Ikigai, celebrates Spanish folklore and its crossover with Atlantic folk, played on steel-string guitar, instead of the traditional Spanish guitar, for an original approach. With colorful compositions and a command of the stringed instrument, Romero has exported the very best of his native country’s musical tradition.
