Members of the Sutradhar Institute for Dance and Related Arts (SIDRA) will perform traditional Kuchipudi dance exploring the sacred feminine and stories and traditions passed down through generations, migrating from India to the United States. This program includes a special collaborative performance with live music from world musician Dr. Ayaba Bey.
Attendees will leave with robust connections with fellow artists, activists, mothers, single women, elders and so on. Soak up the ethos, storyline and language of the central notion of the Yogini as an active, everyday divine expression.
During an interlude in the performances, attendees will have a chance to learn basic movements to traditional rhythms.
Before and after the performance, attendees are invited to explore a visual art display representing research behind the project.
