Hungarian folk dance group Tisza Ensemble will immerse you in the experience of the táncház — or dance house! Táncház are social dance events traditionally held in homes across Hungary, Romania, and across the world!
Tisza Ensemble will perform a variety of Hungarian folk dances, from lively couple dances to floor-shaking line and circle dances. Attendees will learn about the rich history of Hungarian folk dance, as well as about today’s revival movement present within and outside of the Hungarian community and taking place on multiple continents around the world, and right here in the DC metropolitan area!
In addition to enjoying Tisza’s performance from your seats, dancers will teach you and your family easy line and circle dances, and everyone will be invited to join in the dance by the end of the event!
There is no dance without music! This program will also feature live authentic Hungarian music from the Csángó people from Moldavia and the Gyimes valley presented by Szikra Band.
This program is meant for audiences of all ages! Families and children welcome.
