Join us for our 2nd Annual Springsong Museum Meet & Greet, a free community celebration at the future home of Springsong Museum!
📍 Location: Burnt Mills East Park, 10701 Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20901
📅 Date: Saturday, October 31
🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
At Springsong Museum, fall is our time to mark milestones and show the community how much has happened in a year. Come explore the future site of the museum, meet the team, and learn more about what we’ve been doing. Leave inspired by Rachel Carson, the author and environmentalist whose sense of wonder and wisdom of nature are celebrated in Springsong. Carson lived most of her life in Silver Spring. Her legacy is all around us.
This free event is for all ages. Drop in and explore:
Hands-on activities, including a nature observation station with microscopes
Explore the architectural models and concept drawings for the new museum
Learn more about Carson in her nature writings, early editions of her books, and magazine articles
Observe nature up close on a native plant walk led by members of the Maryland Native Plant Society starting at 11am and 1pm
For our Spring:Story Project, record what sparks wonder for you and your reflections on Carson in short interviews with a journalist
Hear about the long history of the historic Burnt Mills site with a local architect
Take a selfie with a life-sized cutout of Carson by the Northwest Branch
