Learn the basics of Hand Lettering with local artist Anna Smith, of The Woodsmith Family. This class is for beginners and is perfect if you’ve been curious about modern calligraphy but not sure where to start or just want to get your feet wet!  In this class you will learn and practice the basics of modern calligraphy, mixing in serif and san serif lettering, and create your own beautiful wooden sign for your home. 

In this class, you will learn how to use a brush pen, create basic strokes, write the upper and lower case alphabet, create serif and sans serif fonts, and perfect your own handwriting style. You will also receive tips and tricks that will help you on your lettering journey and project ideas. After a short break you will use your new handlettering skills and create your own custom sign, so come prepared with a short phrase they would like to hand letter. At least 3 words, but no more than 8.  You will go home with a completed hand lettered project with a minimalist modern frame, calligraphy supplies and worksheets. All tools and materials will be provided. 

This workshop is designed to be small and intimate so that each attendee receives one-on-one guidance and personal instruction throughout the class. Your workshop fee includes worksheets, brush pens, pencils and helpful links to take home with you and continue your practice.
