the beachKraft StudioGallery of Olney will host an Opening Reception for the artist on March 8, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
Guy Kuhn received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Shepherd University in 1968. After switching to an art focus, he studied at Towson University and the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Many of his early works are in private and university collections. After college, he started his own business, Guy T. Kuhn Fine Art Papers, supplying artists nationwide with paper products. In recent years, Guy has rejuvenated his passion for art by focusing on detailed pencil drawings. The artist currently lives and works in Hagerstown, MD.
Guy says that “the discovery process fuels my passion to create art”. His abstract works are highly detailed with a broad range of values created with graphite, white acrylic paint and embossed texture. His process is intuitive as he tends to “work abstractly using geometric shapes that evolve into a composition with sharp contrast and drama.” He describes this as “probing beneath the surface, [an exploration of] the interaction between simple shapes playing off each other without any pre-conceived motif. The resulting harmonious illusion appears to have its own natural balanced reality.”
The beachKraft Gallery is excited to host a broad selection of Kuhn’s artwork during the month of March in Olney.
See Guy Kuhn’s drawings and mixed media artwork at the gallery, Tuesday through Sunday, 12 PM to 8 PM. An opening reception will be held for the artist Saturday March 8, 5 PM to 7 PM. Light refreshment will be available to guests and a live DJ will provide entertainment. Artist receptions at the gallery are always free to attend.
