Jazz may have whiskers but most of the players about to step on stage aren’t even shaving yet. They are the members of the Capital Focus Jazz Band, the nationally acclaimed youth program of the Potomac River Jazz Club. The CFJB has been wowing crowds for three decades and is open to all young musicians by audition. It was one out of just five young youth groups selected from hundreds of international applicants to spend ten days studying with the top names in jazz at the prestigious Jazz Aspen Snowmass Academy in Colorado. CFJB took first place in their division at the Traditional Jazz Youth Band Festival in Sacramento. Cap Focus, as it is often known, has graduated players who go on to a pro career playing at venues such DC’s famous Blues Alley. Give them a big PRJC welcome. AARP members are admitted at PRJC member’s price $20.00, must show current AARP card.
