Entropy alludes to the gradual disintegration of order. For this exhibition, the erosions not only speak to the fabrication process but also underpin the approach to material concerns. 2024 VisArts Bresler Resident Rivera’s practice often finds its concepts in its material specificity. The work grapples with building a conceptual archive. How to invoke emotion and memory through object-making? Entropy welcomes you to consider the domestic, outside of its usual context. Kitchenware, home decor, and family trinkets are replaced with vacancies. Leaving viewers to contemplate these choices of reduction. The materials present asks you to ruminate on the unfamiliar; how do these subversive relationships to the interior reflect our exterior perceptions?
