Join us on September 12th for the opening of Folk Art is Fine Art: Divining Beauty, from 6-7:30pm at Amy Kaslow Gallery.
The exhibition is our fourth annual showcase of the world’s premier creatives. Using natural and found materials scavenged from war zones, blighted urban areas, barren desert, stressed rainforests, remote islands and out in the bush, these artists turn out exquisite work. While the medium and style are personally distinct,  they connect through their reverence for and their elevation of their own communities’ history, its present challenges, and its staying power.  This year’s zestful collection of original Cuban woodblock prints, mod Namibian basketry, rare Tikuna dolls, mesmerizing Indonesian mesh sculptures and vivid Aboriginal works tour some of earth’s most distant regions, chronicling their ancestry, and their here and now, in vivid color and form.
