You don’t have to go to Mexico to join in on the Cinco de Mayo festivities. Downtown Silver Spring will be hosting a Cinco de Mayo street party featuring live music by the Joe Falero Band, a demonstration by the DC Style Salsa Academy, and beer and seasonal sangria courtesy of Nando’s Peri Peri.

Get Fit While Learning Some History
Nanty Narking Nearly 9K
The Nanty Narking Nearly 9K is a trail run and 2 Mile Fun Stroll that highlights historic sites in the Sandy Spring area. Nanty Narking (a Victorian expression meaning “Great Fun“) is a rustic and rootsy trail run back in time past several historic Montgomery County, MD sites including the 1900’s Friends Meeting House, Woodlawn Manor and the original Sandy Spring. Runners of all ages and abilities welcome. Civil War-era music will also be performed by students from the Bullis School. All pre-registered runners and walkers receive a t-shirt. Post-race refreshments will be served.

Celebrate the Environment
Montgomery County GreenFest 2017
Now in its third year, the Montgomery County GreenFest, the largest one-day environmental festival in the county, is moving to Bohrer Park Gaithersburg. It’s a free, family-friendly festival filled with music, films, speakers, exhibitors and workshops all focused on building community, improving our environment, and helping everyone in the County explore their path to a greener life.

Appreciate the Arts
A-RTS Rockville Arts Festival
A-RTS at Rockville Town Square is a free event organized and managed by the Bethesda Row Arts Festival team. The Festival will transform the streets surrounding Rockville Town Square into an outdoor art gallery. It will feature the work of 160 nationally recognized artists from around the country. On display will be the finest in: ceramics, drawings, fiber, glass, graphics, jewelry, metalwork, paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wood and mixed media.

Have Family Fun on the Lakefront
RIO Summer Concert Series
It’s that time of the year again – RIO will be kicking off its summer concert series this weekend. There will be live music every Friday and Saturday night through Sept. 30 from 6–9 p.m. on the RIO Patio near the paddle boats and Union Jack’s. Kicking off the series on Friday night will be Sons of Pirates for all you Jimmy Buffet fans, while New Censation will sing the sounds of Motown on Saturday. Storm Large at AMP by Strathmore
Need an idea for date night? Singer, Storm Large, is bringing her witty and sultry act to the AMP by Strathmore on Saturday and Sunday evening. Large first captivated national audiences as a contestant on the 2006 CBS show “Rock Star: Supernova.” With a long history in rock, Storm branched out into theater and cabaret, filling concert halls around the world with Pink Martini (with whom she debuted right here in Washington, D.C. at the Kennedy Center in 2011).
