5 Things to Do this Holiday Weekend

Rain, rain go away, it’s going to be a rainy weekend. Cheer up and celebrate this holiday weekend with these activities throughout the county!

Drive through Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg and see Winter Lights!

Their magical Christmas light display features 350 illuminated displays and along a 3.5-mile drive through the park. Driving through the enchanted forest setting, you will experience an array of displays that light up the night. Click here for more information (closed on December 25; open every day through December 31)

Check out the holiday season’s best celestial events.

Picture of a full moon

If the clouds clear up, it’s going to be a great week for skywatchers. A full moon will shine bright early Christmas morning. The first on December 25th since 1977. Check out the pretty full moon that will officially reach full phase at 6:11 a.m. ET. The next full moon on Christmas won’t be until 2034. That’s a long time to wait, so make sure to look up to the skies on Christmas Day.

Go to the movies

“Joy”, “The Hateful Eight,” “Concussion” and “Daddy’s Home” open in theaters: David O. Russell (“American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook”) directs Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper for the third time in “Joy”; Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” stars Samuel Jackson and Kurt Russel in a Western epic set in postbellum Wyoming; Will Smith takes on football and head trauma in “Concussion”; and, on a lighter note, “Daddy’s Home” with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, is all about the woes of parenting — and step-parenting.

Visit Adega Wine

These are fantastic things to do and activities to participate in. It would be great to have these included in my travel bucketlist for my future trips.
