Emancipation Day Celebrations

On November 1, 1864, Maryland freed by a new state constitution all those held in bondage within its boundaries. Join Montgomery Parks in celebrating Maryland Emancipation Day in our parks! Hike the Underground Railroad, tour 19th century log cabins, visit an African American history museum, enjoy living history demonstrations and eat great food! Most Saturday and Sunday Park events are FREE.

Tree Lighting in Rockville Town Square

The Season of Giving Kick Off event in Rockville Town Square celebrates the start of the holiday season by giving back to the community. Donations can be made throughout the night to the National Center for Children and Families in the form of Thanksgiving basket items, gently worn coats and new, unwrapped toys. Those who donate can enjoy a free photo by the brand new tree while enjoying live music and entertainment, ice skating, hot chocolate and then the grand finale – the Tree’s holiday light and music show.

Montgomery County Thanksgiving Day Parade

Join us for the annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade throughout Downtown Silver Spring!

The lineup includes a variety of floats and Santa’s sleigh accompanied by reindeer and elves throwing candy canes to the crowd. Multiple high school marching bands will participate and a variety of South American dance groups as well. ABC 7 Meteorologist Brian van de Graaff will serve as master of ceremonies.

Leashes ‘n’ Lights

Leashes ‘n’ Lights

Treat your pooch like royalty at Leashes ‘n’ Lights. Enjoy a leisurely one-mile stroll or embark on a three-mile romp through more than 380 illuminated displays, sparkling wrapped trees and animated vignettes. Visit our heated tent and take a pet selfie with Santa!

Brookside Garden of Lights

Beginning November 25, 2016, families can once again enjoy the beloved winter walk-through holiday light display at Brookside Gardens. This magical winter wonderland is illuminated by more than one million dazzling, colorful lights uniquely shaped into hand-crafted, original art forms featuring flowers, animals and other natural elements.

Winter Lights Festival

The City of Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival is getting ready to welcome visitors for its 21st spectacular season. The wondrous display of lights at Seneca Creek State Park will be open nightly
