Labor Day Weekend 2017

Spend the long Labor Day weekend just outside the Washington, D.C. area. Celebrate the last days of summer in Montgomery County, MD with the following events.

79th Annual Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade

When: Monday, September 4, 2017 | 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
The ever-popular Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade returns to the streets of Olde Towne. Now in its 79th year, this rain or shine event includes ethnic dance groups, antique cars and fire trucks, clowns, high school marching bands, and an assortment of community groups, equestrian units, and more.

50th Annual Labor Day Parade and Festival

When: Monday, September 4, 2017 | 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Join us for the biggest party of the summer- Kensington is celebrating its 50th Labor Day Parade! Collect one of the commemorative 50th Anniversary coins handed out by the Mayor and Council along the parade route! Cheer on the Inspiring floats and clap along to the bands as they make their way through town. Former Mayor Jayne Plank serves as this year’s Grand Marshal. Following the parade, Armory and Mitchell Avenues will be filled with food trucks, vendors, games and activities for children of all ages!

Grape Stomp Festival

Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard’s Annual Grape Stomp Festival is fun for people of all ages. The festival celebrates the end of the harvest season. Admission to this event includes a glass of wine, live music, food and craft vendors.

45th Annual Labor Day Art Show

When: Monday, September 4-6, 2017 | 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm
The 45th Annual Labor Day Art Show features more than 250 artists from the greater Washington, DC area and over 650 works of art including photography, painting, ceramics, jewelry, glass, textiles, and more. For the second year in a row, the Labor Day Art Show offers jewelry on a “cash and carry” basis and new this year is a sleeved prints section! See amazing artwork from across the region in one of the largest art exhibitions in the area!

Irish Music & Dance Showcase

When: Monday, September 4, 2017 | 1:00 – 6:00 pm
Come to Glen Echo Park on Labor Day to enjoy an afternoon of Irish music and dance performances. Presented by the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture, the Irish Music & Dance Showcase features a wide variety of the area’s finest performers. FREE and open to the public, the Showcase is part of the weekend-long festivities at the park that will entertain the many visitors expected over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Labor Day Brunch at Summer House!


When: Monday, September 4, 2017 | 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
It may be the last long weekend of the season, but you can always Summer with us! A three-day weekend means three days of weekend brunch! Enjoy delectable dishes from our breakfast menu such as the Santa Monica Egg White Omelette with shaved turkey breast and tomato-avocado salsa or Our Very Nice Caramelized French Toast. Looking for lunch or dinner? Handcrafted sandwiches, salads and a variety of tacos will be available as well.
