BE ADVENTUROUS

Try kayaking, paddle boarding or whitewater rafting in the Potomac.

A team of professionals at Potomac PaddleSports can guide and teach you all about flatwater kayaks, how to paddle with correct techniques, and will help you discover the flora and fauna of our local treasure. You’ll also learn the rich history of the C&O Canal. Catch a glimpse of heron, kingfisher, white-tailed deer, and painted turtles, and see and learn about the many other wild inhabitants of our river ecosystem.

Potomac Paddlesports also offers professionally guided whitewater rafting trips through the breathtaking Mather Gorge section of the Potomac River (Mather Gorge is just south downriver of Great Falls, Maryland). Just 20 minutes from downtown DC, Mather Gorge is one of the most historically significant and biologically diverse whitewater river sections in America. The towering rock cliffs and natural beauty of this unique and fragile ecosystem will transport you back to a place that time forgot.

What are you waiting for? Get out there and explore the waters of Montgomery County!

  1. https://familycanoeingdc.wordpress.com/places-to-paddle/

There are lots of places to paddle in the DC area. There are lots of places to rent boats (besides these places in Mont. County) but even more places to paddle if you have your own boat.

  2. Boat renting sounds like fun way to explore and be outside during the warmer months! That’s great that it presents many options to do, visiting islands, fishing, and swimming. Location, I would agree makes boat that much more fun! Thank you for sharing why boat renting can be such a good activity to do with the family!

  3. DC area is the beautiful area in Montgomery county blog and we all the friends have fun togther to get outside and inside the water and can enjoy the Lake Needwood in rental kayaks. rowboats, canoes or pedal boats.
