Montgomery County has plenty of outdoor and forest adventures, whether you are looking for ziplining fun or a chance to use your clubs at a golf course, Montgomery County offers plenty of beautiful scenery, parks, and historic sites that everyone will love. Here are some visitor favorites to include in your itinerary!


Book an adventure at Go Ape! Treetop Adventure or the Adventure Park in Sandy Spring. Both are a favorite for family members of all skill levels. The parks include obstacle courses, zip lines, rope ladders, and more. It’s an excellent way to get a day full of family time while enjoying the nature all around you.

Sugarloaf Hiking

Explore popular hiking trails at Sugarloaf Mountain in Dickerson, MD. Hike the local favorite Billy Goat Trail. A 4.7-mile trail that follows the path between the C&O Canal and the Potomac River within the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park near Great Falls.

Enjoy hiking, biking, archery, miniature golf, swimming, soccer, picnicking, and adventure play at the South Germantown Recreational Park. Attractions include an 18-hole, lighted championship miniature golf course, a driving range featuring 40 tees, a section perfect for mountain and BMX bikers of all skill levels and more.



You can find plenty of options for seeing the majestic forests around you. Some of favorite attractions include:

  • The Northwest Branch Trail for hikers
  • Brookside Nature Center
  • Butler’s Orchard for berry picking

Montgomery County has numerous bike trails and roads perfect for cyclists of all skill levels. Hit up Rock Creek Stream Valley Park for fantastic natural surface and hard surface trails filled with cultural histories of the area including, a pioneer homestead, a covered bridge, mill ruins and a raptor aviary. Trails include the Rock Creek Hiker/Biker Trail, Lake Frank & Meadowside Trails, and Lake Needwood Trails.


Of course, Maryland is also rich with culture and history. You can learn about historical while hiking, riding, and touring our countryside at the sites along the C&O Canal, Rockville Civic Center, the Agricultural History Farm Park, the Underground Railroad and more.
