Gaithersburg’s Arts on the Green presents “Winter White,” an exhibit featuring the works of Richardene Forrest-Thweatt, Michael Kuchinsky, Linda Orenstein, Elizabeth Steel, Mary Weiss-Waldhorn, Fran Abrams, Matthew Baker, Tony Glander, Judy Gross, Sheryl Massaro, Jack Donnelly, Jennifer Pizzillo, Homer Yost, Richard Weiblinger, Yolanda Prinsloo, and Marleen Van den Neste, through February 27, 2017. The gallery is located in the Arts Barn at 311 Kent Square Road, with viewing hours Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 1:30 to 5 p.m. The public is invited to meet the artists during a free Artists Reception on Thursday, January 19 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
“Winter White” consists of imaginative sculpture, glass, oil, acrylic, clay, photography, and mixed media works that are devoid of most color but are rich in texture and allure. The simplicity of the approximately 95% colorless theme has allowed the artists to illustrate nature, the human form, creatures, mosaics, and every day objects with striking clarity.
