Bluegrass on the Farm

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the day-long outdoor Bluegrass on the Farm festival at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood, Maryland. The first event in 2006 was hosted by the Friends of the Agricultural History Farm Park, Inc.  After that first year the traditional Music Foundation joined forces with the Friends of the Farm in 2007 and provided funds and expertise to help build the event into one of the most successful outdoor music festivals in the immediate Washington DC area.

The festival takes place on a 55-acre complex with a historic farm site and a modern farming activity center. The Park offers visitors a unique perspective on the rich farming heritage of Montgomery County. Maryland. The area includes the original farmhouse, bank barn and several outbuildings. There are gardening and farm animal exhibits.

This year’s festival will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2015, from noon until 6PM.  Plenty of lawn seating is available among the trees and there is a large tent area for covered seating.  There are lots of shady private areas for jamming before and after the concert so folks can bring their instruments and share some tunes and licks.
